CONSTRUCTION TIMELINES
NeuConnect is committed to engaging and informing key audiences throughout the construction of the project – detailed updates will be shared at each stage, but an overview of key milestones in NeuConnect’s delivery programme are set out below:
2023
Major construction in the UK began with Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) works that will allow the subsea cables to be brought on-land
Earthworks also began in the UK and Germany to prepare for the start of construction on the new converter stations in each country
2024
Major construction begins in Germany
The construction of the UK converter station construction begins
Onshore and offshore cabling works in the UK get underway
2025-2026
Horizontal direction drilling (HDD) works take place in Germany
Offshore cabling works continue between the UK and Germany
Installation works take place in the UK and German converter stations
2027
Offshore cable installation completed
System-wide testing and commissioning begins
Start of trial operations
2028
Offshore cable installation completed NeuConnect enters commercial operations

NEUCONNECT’S CONTRACTORS
NeuConnect has appointed two main contractors to deliver key elements of the project:
Cabling works:
The contract to design, manufacture, install, test and commission the 725km interconnector has been awarded to Prysmian Group – a world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry
Converter stations:
The contract to design and build two converter stations in the UK and Germany has been awarded to Siemens Energy – one of the world’s leading energy technology companies
